Here’s Ttyymmmm’s picture of the Champs Élysées (edit: not there because the orientation of the Arc de Triomphe is wrong. Might be Avenue Foch) in the 1960s from earlier.

I’ve identified most of the cars that are near enough to be seen clearly.

But there’s a problem. What’s the little red one in the middle that looks like a Fiat 500 or a Goggomobil but isn’t?

Kinja'd!!!

Update: it’s probably a Vespa 400 unless anybody has any better ideas.

Is Élysées another way of saying my name Ulysses?

Nope, it means Elysian as in Elysian Fields (les Champs Élysées means the Elysian Fields) . Still Greek though.

My search lead me to this

https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=tiny+french+car&view=detailv2&&id=C9A76B26A08BAC00CC621C1FCD7B05E12484124A&selectedIndex=176&ccid=G%2fppB0sl&simid=608005673439200017&thid=OIP.M1bfa69074b251ebfa9c54f74092c1644o0

And now I must know more .

I know it’s probably not French, but that’s where I started

EDIT: The vehicle in my link appears to be called the Pussycar Automodule. I would not have guessed that

The car in front of the 356 appears to be a fintail Merc. The red microcar might be an Autobianchi of some sort.

I’ve seen one of these for real! On mobile right now, but I’ll show you when I can. They were just weird concept cars I think, done for the hell of it.

The Lutece?

Close, but no cigar.

Kinja'd!!!

The fin indeed belongs to a Merc.

Yep definitely a fintail, I will wager it is a W110.

Vespa 400 maybe?

Kinja'd!!!

Otherwise, I’m sure Jonee would know what it is.

I had thought of that, but no indicators. Also different badges.

I think the older one matches quite well:

Kinja'd!!!

It has the small high centered badge, as well as the overriders being closer like the one on the Champs Élysées

It’s in the middle of this post: http://oppositelock.kinja.com/i-went-to-paris-retromobile-classic-autoshow-and-then-1757514506

Definitely a cool thing to see, along with the other wonky cars are by this guy!

Also, it is French!

Yes, that looks a lot closer. Different bumpers and over riders but I expect that there was a lot of variation as they were more or less hand made.
